Garcia, Lesh, and Weir, “What a long great trip it’s been.” Launched from a little pushcart on Denver’s 16th Street Mall, The Duffeyroll Cafés have become popular neighborhood gathering places where folks enjoy our tasty fare, warm, friendly atmosphere, and sunny outdoor patios. It all started with our distinctive cinnamon rolls which are still baked fresh daily onsite.

When we opened our first cafe in Happy Canyon in 1986, the shopping center was half full and the economy was in rough shape. Sound familiar? Our confidence came from our belief in our unique recipe, tireless enthusiasm, and commitment to great service. Simply put, the Duffeyroll is a treat that makes people happy.

From 1993 through 1997, our “Roll Patrol” took to the streets of the burgeoning Denver Tech Center introducing more and more folks to the Duffeyroll. Catering and delivery throughout the city also helped establish our unique recipe and affable brand. In 2002–by popular demand–we introduced our Duffeyrolls in a bake-at-home pan. They are available in our cafés and also featured in our unique fundraising program.

In 2005 our Hampden Café was bulging at the seams. A loyal following and a little bit of pluck convinced us that we could expand to a second location on charming Old South Pearl Street in Denver. We opened a third location in Englewood in 2010.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary with a fresh new look and updated menu–and yes, even a Facebook page and Twitter account–we look forward to our second generation. Look for our vintage ‘63 Volkswagen van cruising around the metro area and at special events and venues around the city.

But the Duffyeroll itself, and our friendly cafés aren’t just about food. They’re also about neighborhood, community, and conviviality. Each of our cafés features a photo gallery of our customers and friends down through the years. Today, we love to see the children who once came to our first café return as adults with their own kids in tow and introduce them to our sweet treat and congenial environment.
